Mayor Neil Lizares yesterday reconvened the Talisay City, Negros Occidental, local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to recalibrate the city’s drive against the spread of COVID-19.
He wants to focus and push for extra precautionary measures to be enforced in the top three Talisay barangays –Zone 12A, Concepcion and Zone 8 , with the highest COVID-19 cases, where movement will continue to be restricted on Sundays, he said.
Resident of the three barangays working in Bacolod City will also be required to obtain medical certificates, he added.
Lizares also stressed the strict enforcement of the “no home isolation and home quarantine policy” to further slow down local transmission and continue to achieve higher recovery rate.
Talisay City has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental, the Provincial Health Office reported.
Bacolod City that is a highly urbanized city is not included in the PHO report.
The Talisay City Health Office reported yesterday that the city had seven new COVID-19 cases for total of 569 of which 56 are active, 497 have recovered and 16 have died.
With firm guidelines and enforcement in place, the Talisay IATF reported yesterday that it has managed to reverse the surge in cases in September and has kept it in single digit levels in October with only 55 active cases remaining to date.
“More are recovering daily bringing our recovery rate to a high of 87.4 percent, performing better than the provincial, regional and the national recovery rate of 84.8 percent,” the IATF added.
Lizares called on Talisaynons to continue to stay vigilant and observe strict health protocols.*
