TUPV grads top ECE board exams

Two graduates of the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUPV) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, claimed the third and fourth spots in the April 2023 Electronics Engineer (ECE) licensure exams.

The official Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) website showed TUP-V graduate Herach Lee Gelvoleo, of Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City landed the Top 3 with an 88.30 percent rating among the 2,935 who took the test on April 19-20, 2023.

Gelvoleo, in an interview with Youlink Community News (YCN), said that he owes everything to God, for it is through prayers and faith that he was able to conquer the rigorous ride.

He emphasized, “When all else fails, your faith in God through prayers will secure an eternal future with Him.”

Gelovoleo was a scholar of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and graduated in 2021, and because of financial reasons started working for two years while taking review classes online.

Meanwhile, Oneal Cervantes Laboriante bagged the Top 4 on the Electronics Technicians (ECT) board exams with an 87 percent rating, sharing the spot with those examinees from the University of San Carlos, Ateneo de Manila University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Main and Bataan Peninsula State University-Main Campus.

PRC, yesterday evening announced that 983 out of 2,935 (33.49 percent) successfully passed the April 2023 ECE licensure exams, while 1,641 out of 2,227 (73.69 percent) hurdled the Electronics Technician (ECT) board exams.

TUP-Visayas, on the other hand, was named the Top 1 Performing School for ECT with a 92.21 percent rating and 71 passers out of 77 examinees. It also achieved 54.90 percent rating in the ECE Board Exams.

The PRC released the results three working days after the conduct of the exams on April 19-20.

The ECE Board Exam were held in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Palawan.

Chairman Engr. Alnar Detalla and members Engr. Enrico Claro Delmoro and Engr. Herminio Orbe of the PRC Board of Electronics Engineering administered the examinations covering topics on Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, General Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Electronics Systems and Technologies.

TUPV campus director Dr. Eric Malo-oy complimented the TUPVian examinees who made it and the members of the University administration, faculty, staff, and the families of those who have made it this far in their academic journey.

“This is only the beginning of what lies ahead; the University has equipped you with the tools of the trade significant to address the pressing needs of the industry.
