The Covid-19 contact tracing capability of the Bacolod City Police Office got a boost after it was beefed up with 18 police nurses and a radiologic technologist by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

P/Lt. Wilma Silva, NOCPPO public information officer, said yesterday that sending the augmentation of 19 PNP personnel, with medical backgrounds, from the different police stations and provincial police headquarters, was in compliance with the order of Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director of Western Visayas, to help BCPO in the battle against the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Bacolod City.

The AFP Central Command and the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade also sent military doctors and nurses, as well as Army engineers to Bacolod City recently.

P/Col. Romy Palgue, NOCPPO officer-in-charge, said that the medical personnel from the provincial police office can greatly help the BCPO in identifying and isolating the close contacts of positive patients since time is of the essence.

“In the fight against Covid-19, there are no territorial boundaries, thus coordination and collaboration is important. We all should work together and be one with God to heal as one,” Palgue said.*
