Twenty-nine police personnel in Region 6 were dismissed from the service, while 89 others were penalized for various offenses, regional police spokesperson, Lt. Col. Joem Malong, said last night.

The judgment was rendered after P/Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director of Western Visayas, ordered the swift resolution of all administrative cases of police personnel in the region.

Malong said PRO6 managed to resolve the various administrative cases lodged against 160 police officers from January to Sept. 16 this year, as part of the intensified cleansing of the PNP personnel.

Of the police officers involved, 118 were penalized, including the 29 who were dismissed from the police service, while 42 were exonerated.

Malong also reported that three personnel were demoted from their present ranks, 75 were suspended, two were meted salary forfeiture, and nine others reprimanded.

Of the 160 police officers being tried for administrative charges, eight were police commissioned officers, while 152 were all police non-commissioned officers, she added.

“We will be more stringent in our campaign on internal cleansing… violators have no place in the organization,” Pamuspusan said in a statement issued by PRO 6.

He also emphasized that PNP personnel must showcase the highest form of discipline at all times to regain the trust and confidence of the community.*
