Preliminary investigations are now being conducted by the Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office against three doctors and two medical staff members assigned at the government-managed hospitals in Isabela and La Carlota City, based on complaints of their patients which already reached the attention of the Department of Health.

Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. disclosed that two doctors assigned at the Isabela District Hospital are facing complaints for behavioral issues pertaining to treatment of their patients, while a doctor and two medical staff at government-managed hospital in La Carlota City, were charged for irregular transactions of medicines.

Nellas, however withheld their identities pending ongoing investigations.

He explained that role of PLO is to conduct a preliminary investigation and formulate its recommendations, based on evidence they gathered from the complainants and respondents, for endorsement to the Investigation Committee for Public Health Workers chaired by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang.

The DOH referred the complaints of patients against the three doctors and two medical staff to the provincial government of Negros Occidental, which was forwarded to the PLO for investigations.*
