BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

When it rains, it pours for Negros Occidental provincial government workers.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who marked his birthday, announced last night that regular and casual Capitol employees will receive P65,000 additional bonus each.

The announcement of Lacson was met with a standing ovation and a loud applause from Capitol employees and officials, who attended his birthday celebration and the switch-on ceremony of Christmas decorations at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City.

After searching for all possible funds that we can give, attended by the different offices, especially the Accounting Office, Lacson said he will send a request on December 14 to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental for an extra blessing to all regular and casual employees.

Capitol employees got P40,000 additional bonus each last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Asked what will be his birthday wish, Lacson said “I wish that all of us will remain in the ‘pink of health’,” but did not elaborate further.

Pink is the color of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo.

The P65,000 additional bonuses to be received by Capitol employees is on top of 14th and 14th month- pay they received in May and November this year, which is equivalent to their one-month salary and P5,000 cash incentives.

The switch-on ceremony at the Capitol Lagoon was also attended by Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Rep. Ma. Lourdes Arroyo (5th district, Negros Occidental) and some mayors.*
