BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A total of 75 police personnel assigned in different police units all over Western Visayas yesterday started to undergo the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) course at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City, with the opening ceremony presided over by Region 6 police director Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco.

Provincial police spokesman Lt. Judesses Catalogo yesterday said that of the 75 SWAT trainees, 45 are assigned at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 15 from Bacolod City Police Office, 10 from Guimaras Police Provincial Office, seven from Capiz Police Provincial Office and two from the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG).

In his speech, Francisco reminded the 75 SWAT trainees that the performance should be committed to service, to mission and to passion that is “to serve and protect the people.”

The training was also made possible by the support of EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon, San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo, Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego, Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo, and Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen de la Cruz.

“I believe that working with the LGUs, and working as a team, we will deliver or give better service to the people of Western Visayas,” Francisco added.*
