Negros Occidental 4th District Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer is pushing for the establishment of a specialist medical facility in Negros Occidental.

House Bill No.122, or the bill creating the Negros Occidental Heart, Lung, and Kidney Center filed by Ferrer, aims to help residents in the province, specifically patients suffering from heart, lung, and kidney illnesses.

Ferrer noted that patients in Negros Occidental suffering from such illnesses are forced to travel to Manila in order to seek specialist diagnosis and treatment.

When asked if she had her way of constructing the specialist medical center, Ferrer said she wants it to be a separate building or medical facility.

“There is no more room at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City, and the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City,” she pointed out.

Ferrer is optimistic that the bill will easily hurdle the House of Representatives especially since during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., he vowed to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

Marcos, in his first State Of the Nation Address, vowed to build more top of the line medical facilities outside of the National Capital Region (NCR) in order to make it easier for sick Filipinos to seek treatment without going to Metro Manila.*
