Investigators check the body of Madelyn Benignos in the tricycle* BCPO photo

Station 2 policemen are still facing a blank wall on the shooting to death of a businesswoman by riding-in-tandem suspects near a mall in Bacolod City, at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

P/Lt. Andy Ofalia, deputy commander of Police Station 2, said they have yet to establish the identities of the suspects, who gunned down Madelyn Benignos, since they were wearing helmets.

Benignos, 29, of Purok Lampirong, Brgy. 2, Bacolod was on her way home on a tricycle, from her stall at 888 Chinatown Square Mall, when the suspects on a motorcycle shot her at North Capitol road near the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, and escaped, Ofalia said.

He added that Benignos died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the head while the tricycle driver and his wife were unhurt.

The police have ruled out robbery as motive for the killing because none of Benignos’ belongings was missing. Policemen recovered two fired cartridge cases and two slugs of a yet unidentified firearm at the crime scene.*
