Two persons died on March 25, one as a result of a shooting incident in La Carlota City, while a 56-year-old jobless man drowned in Pontevedra, all in Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations showed that a 48-year-old butcher, whose identity was withheld by the police, was driving a motorcycle on his way home, when he was shot by the suspects at Sitio Carolina in Brgy. II, La Carlota City.
The victim, who sustained gunshot injuries in the chest, was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City, according to the police.
The lifeless body of a 56-year-old man was also found floating at the Casalagan river in Brgy. Antipolo, Pontevedra, also on Monday.
Prior to his discovery, the victim was having a drinking session with a friend.
The victim, according to the police, parted ways with his friend, who was also under the influence of liquor, at the edge of the Casalagan bridge.
There was no sign of foul play, on the death of the victim, police further said.*
