Bacolod City Officials led by Vice Mayor El Cid Famillaran were supposed to be inoculated yesterday during the ceremonial vaccination using the Sinovac Coronavirus 2019 vaccines at the Bacolod Government Center.

But according to Mayor Evelio Leornardia their inoculation did not pushed through as it was not permitted by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

Aside from Famillaran, Councilors Cindy Rojas, Israel Salangga Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen and Ayesha Villaflor have signified their willingness to be vaccinated.

Leonardia said that he informed Galvez of the city officials’ plan but the latter told him that the vaccines are limited.

Considering that there is a few doses of vaccines, Galvez emphasized that it should be dedicated to the health care workers and other active hospital frontliners instead, he said.

Familliaran said they understand that they are not yet the priority for the vaccine roll-out and stressed that they are pursuing their plan to be vaccinated whenever they are already allowed.

Meanwhile, Leonardia said that even if they are allowed to be vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines, he is still not qualified as he is already more than 60 years old.

He said that once there is an available vaccine and he is qualified, he Will certainly get himself vaccinated.*
