A motorcycle driver died after he was accidentally hit by a police patrol vehicle on September 28 at Hacienda Socorro in Brgy. Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The victim identified as Roy Valiente, 36, of Escalante City, who succumbed to multiple injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital, according to the police.
Initial police investigations showed that the San Carlos City police Hilux patrol vehicle driven by Jhune Mil Kenn Nieves, 38, figured in a head on collision with the Yamaha Mio motorcycle driven by the victim.
Because of the impact, both vehicles fell into a canal.
It was reported that it was raining and road was slippery and muddy when the vehicular collision took place.
Nieves, a casual employee of the San Carlos City government, detailed as a driver of the police, is now under the custody of the San Carlos City Police Station.*
