The law department of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Western Visayas has already endorsed to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) violations they have monitored, regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said yesterday.
Ingeniero disclosed Comelec has control over almost everything during the election period.
“The report was submitted to us, but is subject to fact- finding,” he said.
Under COMELEC Resolution 10732 lays down the rules for in- person campaigns, motorcades and rallies. any person who shall violate the election guidelines in conducting campaign activities shall be punished with imprisonment of not less than one year but not more than six years and shall not be subject to probation.
In addition, the guilty party shall be sentenced to suffer disqualification to hold public office and deprivation of the right of suffrage. Other punishments are also indicated in the said resolution.*
