Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 6 Regional Director Nerie Bueno kept an eye on the on-going construction of Bacolod Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH) in Negros Occidental.
In her recent inspection, Bueno checked BANOCEH Section 2, Package B in Bacolod City, particularly the construction of Magsungay Bridge, which is one of the three bridges included in the package.
Bueno instructed the contractor and the project engineer to be perpetual in the implementation and monitoring of project to meet the scheduled completion.
“We should work round-the-clock to deliver the project on time and make this (road section) passable, especially that rainy season is approaching,” Bueno said.
Costing P319.7 million, BANOCEH Section 2, Package B involves concreting of 5.2-kilometer, 7-meter wide Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) road. This also includes three 4-lane, 3-span Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG) bridges on bored pile foundation, namely, Magsungay Bridge, Pequinto Bridge, and Ngalan Bridge with the collective length of 50 meters.
This road section forms part of the 48.8-kilometer BANOCEH that will serve as an alternate thoroughfare from Brgy. Sum-ag in Bacolod City to Victorias City.
“When completed, this section will be beneficial to our motorists and the riding public as this will serve as a shorter alternate route from Bacolod City to San Carlos City, passing the towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto,” Bueno said.
“This will, likewise, fast-track the development of the province, reducing travel time in the transport of farm products to the market, such as sugarcanes from farms to mills, and will further serve as convenient access point to several tourist destinations in the province, without passing along the city center,” Bueno added.*
