A tricycle driver died when he figured in a freak accident in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City past 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Police Station 5 commander, P/Lt. Melchor Tolentino, identified the fatality as Jose Ronnie Ruel Jr., 34, of Sitio Balogo in Brgy. Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, who succumbed to head injuries.
Tolentino said Ruel was heading east of the Granada-Alangilan road on his tricycle when he swerved to the opposite lane and hit the gutter. He said the impact caused Ruel to fall to the ground and hit his head.
Tolentino added that Ruel was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Initial investigation showed that Ruel was on his way home after visiting a sibling at Abada-Escay relocation site in Vista Alegre when the accident happened.*
