Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC)-Task Force, turned over 10 donated mobile phones to the market supervisors of the three major public markets in Bacolod City, and to the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient (BRO) Center, through OIC city health officer, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., at the EOC Command Center yesterday.

The mobile phones will be used to enhance the implementation of the BaCTrac system at Libertad, Central, and Burgos markets, and at the BRO Center, a press release from the city said.

The turnover ceremony was attended by EOC deputies for medical, Drs. Chris Sorongon and Anna Ma. Laarni Pornan, contact tracing head Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, and data management head Edrian Robete.

BaCTrac is a contact tracing system developed for efficient and expeditious contact tracing of confirmed Covid-19 positive patients in the city and, consequently, allow the EOC-TF to easily locate people suspected of having contact with the patients.

Meanwhile, the executives of a business process outsourcing (BPO) company that recently recorded a spike in the number of Covid cases among its employees, made a commitment to religiously cooperate with the contact tracing operations of the Bacolod City government.

“I have complete commitment to implement BaCTrac. We care for the community and for our employees,” one of the company’s top executives, who recently visited the EOC, said.

The visit was made to strengthen the firm’s coordination and collaboration with the city government and to prevent a similar incident from happening.

Sorongon emphasized the importance of using BaCTrac in the contact tracing, adding that fast and intensive contact tracing is very crucial because it is the heart of the EOC’s approach in containing the spread of the virus.”

Sorongon also said that the EOC will extend technical assistance to the BPO company for the registration of its employees, through the deployment of the BaCTrac technical team whenever needed.* re Act.
