The wearing of face masks in outdoor and open spaces in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, has been lifted, based on the amended executive order issued by Mayor Renato Gustilo.

In the same executive order, Gustilo, however said the wearing of face masks in indoor spaces is voluntary, but still mandatory in hospitals and medical facilities in San Carlos City.

Gustilo said that the policy of voluntary wearing of face masks in both outdoor and indoor settings, as recommended by the Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, is a positive step towards normalization, and a welcome development that would encourage activities, and boost efforts towards the full opening of the economy.

The executive order issued by Gustilo took effect February 13. As of Feb. 14, Negros Occidental logged 32 COVID-19 active cases.*
