Senator Sherwin Gatchalian will be the keynote speaker during the Charter Day celebration of Bacolod City on Saturday.
This year’s theme is “Breaking Barriers and Rising Above and Beyond.”
Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Gatchalian accepted his invitation to be this year’s Charter Day speaker when they met during the recent assembly of the members of the League of Cities of the Philippines.
Leonardia said Gatchalian was the one defending the cities in the Senate.
“Recently, when there was a problem involving the cities, he was the single voice who stood for the cities in the Senate. So, he is our champion in defending the cities,” he said.
Leonardia said “He (Gatchalian) was my co-mayor for three terms and we also went to Congress together.”*
