A total liquor ban will take effect on March 29, Good Friday, in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The 24-hour liquor ban was ordered by Mayor Marvin Malacon, in his Executive Order No. 31, series of 2024.

Sale of liquor and other alcoholic beverages on Good Friday is prohibited, Malacon said.

Mayor John Rey Tabujara also prohibited cockfighting on Holy Thursday and Good Friday in Cauayan town.

Classes in both public and private schools in Murcia and Pulupandan were also suspended from March 26 to 27.

However, the mode of instruction has been shifted to modular distance learning.

Malacañang also ordered work suspension in government offices starting 12 noon of March 27 onwards, to allow its employees to observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and for them to travel to and from different regions in the country.

However, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers, it added.

The Central Philippines State University also issued an advisory, suspending its work operations in the afternoon of March 27, to resume on April 1.*
