Kagawad, LGU employee shot dead

A barangay kagawad and a local government unit employee were separately shot and killed on December 10 and 11, respectively, in Bacolod City and Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, police said.

Rhoule Jay Martir, a 38-year-old kagawad of Brgy. 14, Bacolod City, died on the spot after he was shot by unidentified assailants on December 11, in front of his wife at Lumina Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.

The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, according to the police.

Initial police investigations showed that Martir and his wife were sitting in front of their house when the four bonnet wearing suspects, shot him several times.

 PCapt. Elmer Bonilla, Bacolod City Police Office Station 7 commander, disclosed a vehicle stopped near the house of the victim, from which three of the suspects disembarked and shot him.

The motive of the shooting incident is still being investigated by the Police Station.

A certain Elmie Pacheco, a casual employee of the Himamaylan City government, was also shot and killed by a suspect identified by the police as Ruel Ladera, alias Jack, on December 10, in Sitio Cantupa, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City

Prior to the shooting incident, three suspects were looking for the victim at his residence in the sitio.

Pacheco was shot twice in the head by one of the suspects, who was armed with a .45 caliber pistol, while on their way out from his house, police said.*
