A 23-year-old laborer was shot and killed by two unidentified suspects in Brgy. Minautok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental Tuesday.
The victim was identified by the police as Mark Baytan of Sitio Paraiso in the barangay.
Calatrava police investigation showed that the victim was working in the sugarcane field of Devina Mancao, when two unidentified armed men arrived and asked who he was.
When he identified himself as “Pilo”, the two suspects immediately shot him several times.
A fired bullet of a .45 caliber pistol was recovered from the crime scene.
Witnesses told the police that the fleeing suspects shouted that they were able to finally get Baytan.
The family of the victim refused to bring him to a hospital for postmortem examination, and brought him home for burial, the police added.*
