With the announcement of Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer that he will remain with National Unity Party, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said he is also sticking with his national party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Lacson and Ferrer, who are affiliated with Love Negros and United Negros Alliance, respectively, however said their members are free to join the Kilusan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP), led by Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who already filed for the accreditation of their political movement into a national political party before the Commission on Elections.

Lacson disclosed that Love Negros members, of which Benitez is affiliated, are also members of national parties.

Almost all Negros Occidental mayors are members of PDP-Laban.

Benitez earlier said that he will resign as a PDP-Laban member once Comelec grants the accreditation of his political party.

Ferrer also disclosed that he sees no problem if UNegA members will join KNP.

The KNP, according to Benitez, was formed by members of Congress and other elected officials supporting the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

With the incoming elections, Lacson said he expects political groups’ alliances to form.*
