The management of Magikland outdoor theme park in Silay City, Negros Occidental, yesterday announced the temporary closure of the park until Dec. 13 after a ride attendant tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019.

Reynaldo Bantug, president and chief executive officer of Aton Land and Leisure Inc., said in an advisory issued by Magikland that, based on contact tracing results, the employee was exposed outside of the park premises. The attendant is asymptomatic and presently under home isolation, he added.

The employee came in contact with other Magikland staff on non-operating park days, that means that no guests were exposed, Bantug said.

The exposed staff members will undergo swab tests to complete the contact tracing procedure and ensure their health, he added.

As a preventive measure and in accordance with government safety standards, Magikland is temporarily closed until the results of all swab tests are known and the concerned staff members are declared clear to resume work, Bantug said. Magikland reopened on Nov. 14 after several months of closure due to the Covid pandemic, with a 50-percent capacity and strict enforcement of health protocols.*
