A minor was found dead while her mother remains missing, after both were carried away by a strong current at a river in Purok Crossing Libertad, Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The 11-year-old child was found several hours after she and her mother were both reported missing at about 1 p.m. yesterday.
Initial investigations of the Bago City police disclosed that the minor was trying to recover a slipper at the river when she was swept away by a strong current.
Her mother, Myra Gargaceran, who tried to rescue her, was also carried away by the strong current. She remains missing as of last night.
Dr. Marigen Ortizo, Bago City Disaster Risk Management Officer, told Aksyon Radyo that the search and retrieval operations will resume 7 a.m. today.*
