Mayor Gerry Rojas, Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura and SB Members turned over the new ambulance to barangay officials and barangay workers of Brgy. Cansilayan led by Punong Barangay Edgar Daquipil last April 17.*

The Municipality of Murcia further beefed up its fleet of ambulances and patient transport vehicles after it turned over two brand-new patient transport vehicles to Brgy. Lopez Jaena and Brgy. Cansilayan on April 17.

“The health and welfare of Murciahanons is our primary concern. These two vehicles will provide immediate response to emergency situations in their respective area and nearby barangays. Our patients can more quickly receive medical care and transport from this barangay-based ambulance, compared to an ambulance deployed from the health center in the town proper,” stressed Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas.

Rojas, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura, and Sangguniang Bayan Members turned over the new ambulances to barangay officials and barangay workers led by Punong Barangay Marilou Villanueva and Punong Barangay Edgar Daquipil in Brgy. Lopez Jaena and Brgy. Cansilayan, respectively.

“These two vehicles are intended to transport the patients from their barangay to the Murcia Health Center, where they can be attended to, and then sent back home if they are already well, or sent aboard a bigger ambulance to a medical facility in Bacolod or Silay for more comprehensive medical attention,” explained Rojas.

Since the start of his term in 2019, Rojas has spearheaded the procurement of no less than ten brand-new ambulances to serve Murciahanons. These purchases were sourced from local funds and from various government offices.

The mayor assured Murciahanons that he and his administration will continue to further strengthen the health services in the town.

“We aim to provide an ambulance or patient transport vehicle to each of the 23 barangays in Murcia. Considering the vast financial requirements for that undertaking, we started with these two vehicles, but we will procure more units, as the funds allow. For now, we will endeavor to provide one ambulance for a cluster of neighboring barangays, until we can provide an ambulance to each barangay,” he emphasized.

Reosura stated that he will pray for the good health of Murciahanons, so that they will have no need for an ambulance service. However, because of the unpredictability of life, it can’t be avoided that they might need medical services in the future, he added.

“If the need arises, you can rest assured that you now have an ambulance nearby to respond to your medical emergency and ensure your greater chances of recovery,” said Reosura.

Villanueva and Daquipil profusely thanked Mayor Rojas, Vice-Mayor Reosura and the SB Members for choosing their barangays as the initial recipients of the program. They assured the mayor that they will take extra care of the vehicles.*
