NegOcc dengue cases up 119%

Dengue cases in Negros Occidental went up by 119 percent in the first three weeks of January, compared to the same period in 2022, a report of the Provincial Health Office said.

It rose to 90 cases during the period of January 1 to 21 this year, compared to 49 last year.

While there was no reported fatality in Negros Occidental, San Carlos City topped the list among 31 towns and cities of the province, excluding highly urbanized Bacolod City, having the most number of dengue cases at 14.

Other local government units with more than five cases were Sagay City, Pulupandan, Cadiz City, Silay City and Bago City.

Based on reports of the Department of Health Western Visayas, Region 6 logged 176 dengue cases from Jan. 1 to 14, with Negros Occidental on top of the list, having the most number of cases.*
