With 12 regions participating in the recent 2022 Little League Girls Softball World Series Majors Division coming from all parts of the world, the Philippines-Asia Pacific team from Negros Occidental entered the semifinals and finished 4th place, a press release from the Provincial Sports Office said.
The girls, who come from different towns and cities of Negros Occidental pooled as one team, bowed to the Virginia softbelles in their final game at Greensville, North Carolina, USA.
For the Filipino nation, the prestigious Team Sportsmanship Award which the team earned was the least expected, presented to the Negrense girls for their camaraderie, inter-active relations and behavior, among others.
The players and their coaches expressed their gratitude for all the inspiration that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson gave to the team and the game of softball. With the added support of Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz and head of Sports Anthony Carlo Agustin, the team looks ahead to the challenge awaiting them in the coming 2023 national games with positivity.
The Little League Softball Girls World Series is an annual event occurring around the world with the regional champions competing in the World Series in America.
The two participating teams of Negros Occidental are in the Seniors and Majors Division.*
