Five adults and four minors were rescued from a fire that damaged a four-storey commercial building along Gonzaga-Lopez Jaena streets, Barangay 26, Bacolod City Monday night.

The Bureau of Fire estimated the total damage at P4 million.

Rescued were Jinky Delfin Chavez, 19; Jay Pido Moreno, 35; Mark Anthony Dimiglit Moreno, 31 and his 1-year-old daughter, who were trapped at the rooftop of the JA building owned by Hao Lai Na.

Also rescued were Thomas Lim, 48, Angela Lim, 38 and three minors.

BFP reports said Mark Anthony Moreno sustained a laceration on his left leg while trying to escape the approximately hour-long fire that started from the storage area of the second floor of one of the stores in the building.

The fire reportedly damaged the Big Thumb General Merchandising being leased by Thomas Lim, which sells motorcycle parts and accessories, and other wares.

Bacolod Fire Marshal Chief. Insp Rodel Legaspi said fire investigators are still investigating the cause of fire.*
