Series of buy bust operations conducted by the police on Tuesday and Wednesday in Negros Occidental led to the confiscation of more than P700,000 worth of suspected shabu, and the apprehension of seven drug suspects, including a student and a woman.
The apprehension of a 24-year-old student during a buy bust operation on Wednesday at San Agustin Street in Brgy. 2 poblacion, La Carlota City, yielded an estimated 50 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P340,000.
Three more drug suspects were also accounted for by the police, following their separate arrests on February 27 and 28, in Brgys. 5 and Rizal, Silay City, respectively, that also led to the confiscation of 28 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of almost P200,000.
A similar buy bust operation led to the seizure of at least 25 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P170,000 from an arrested drug suspect, a woman, at Mt. Carmel in Brgy. 5, Victorias City, also on Feb. 28.
Two more drug suspects were apprehended by the police at Hacienda San Roque in Brgy. Gargato, Hinigaran, which yielded five sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P1,700.
All the arrested drug suspects, whose identities were withheld by the police, are now locked up in jail, pending the filing of charges against them for violation of RA 9615, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.*
