A 50-year-old widower died while his son was injured after being shot by armed suspects on February 11 in Brgy. Balintawak, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
Police investigations show that Joseph Arnaiz and his friend were drinking alcoholic beverages inside a garage, when the six unidentified suspects on board two motorcycles, arrived.
Arnaiz, 25, was then shot in the left arm by the one of the suspects.
His father, Victor, 50, who tried to rescue him, was also shot in the head, police investigations further showed.
The elder Arnaiz, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head, died, while he and his son were brought to Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City, for treatment of the injuries, police said.
Joseph was later transferred to a private hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.
A laborer identified as Renante Francisco was also declared dead on arrival at a hospital after he was stabbed allegedly by a Rodel Francisco, also on Feb. 11 in Hacienda Letecia, Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City.
Investigations of the La Carlota City police showed that Rodel and Renante were having a drinking spree when heated arguments ensued between them.
After being pacified by their neighbors, Rodel reportedly went home and took a knife,which he used in stabbing the victim, who was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City, police investigations further showed.
The suspects remain at large as of this time.*
