The 2024 Palarong Panlalawigan (2024 Negros Occidental Provincial Meet) is set to open on April 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Negros Occidental Division, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, has started finalizing their plans by convening a meeting with the various technical working committees on March 25 at the Food Terminal Market of Occidental Negros (FTMON) function hall.

DepEd Schools Division of Negros Occidental Superintendent Anthony Liobet spearheaded the meeting, where traffic management, safety and security, medical and rescue response plans were discussed, among many others. Provincial Sports Coordinator Anthony Carlo Agustin attended the meeting on behalf of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, while Councilor Al Victor Espino represented the Bacolod City government.

In his opening message, Agustin stressed his hopes that all the members of the technical working committees will be able to work together to ensure the successful execution of the provincial and regional meets. Espino, on the other hand, signified the support of the Bacolod City government in co-hosting the sports events.

It was also revealed in the meeting that Gov. Lacson had approved the activation of the Incident Command System (ICS) to centralize the communications when it comes to on-scene, all-risk incident management. ICS is a standardized concept to command, control, and coordinate emergency responses by adopting an integrated organizational system to deal with the demands and complexities of single or multiple incidents without being hampered by bureaucratic boundaries.

Various representatives and officials from the DepEd Schools Division of Bacolod City, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Pana-ad Park and Stadium Administration, Provincial Tourism Office, Provincial Information Office (PIO), Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC), Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) South and North Negros and Bacolod Substations, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) Negros Occidental Provincial Office, and Bacolod City Fire Station were also in attendance during the meeting.

The Provincial Meet will run from April 1 to 6, with the theme “Nurturing Champions for the World.”*
