The 62-year-old Covid-19 patient of Silay City in Negros Occidental died Wednesday.
A Silay City Covid Task Force advisory yesterday said the fatality, known as the city’s Patient No. 23, was a resident of Barangay Mambulac and the father of Patient 18, a nurse from a hospital in Bacolod City.
The task force reported that the patient and his family were put on home quarantine on July 30, while swabs were taken on August 1.
On August 3, the senior citizen started manifesting Covid symptoms and was admitted to a government hospital in Bacolod City.
On August 4, his Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test came out and yielded positive for the virus.
The patient was then isolated by the health facility, but he expired the next day.
Another family member, a 38-year-old male, also tested positive for the virus.
Tagged as Silay Patient No. 24, he is under monitoring and is asymptomatic.
The fatality’s entire family was also transferred to a quarantine facility, the task force said.
The task force also reported that, as of yesterday, the city has 27 confirmed patients, with 13 active cases, and 14 have recovered.*
