Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led the distribution of food packs to senior citizens through the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Bacolod (FSCAB) Thursday.

FSCAB president Edgardo Superticioso said the food packs were then turned over to the 75 association heads from 61 barangays, at the FSCAB gym in Barangay 16.

Each association president received at least 10 food packs that will be divided among their members.

Superticioso said the food packs were funded by the city government.

Leonardia said he took time out to oversee the distribution because the senior citizens are a priority.

“FSCAB is one of my projects. I am happy that since 1997 until now, the federation remains an active group,” the mayor said.

Familiaran said the Leonardia administration still has a lot to give to its constituents including the senior citizens but noted that some of their development initiatives had been stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joining the mayor and the vice mayor were Councilors Cindy Rojas, Archie Baribar, Dindo Ramos, and Israel Salanga, and former Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang.

Also with them were Grupo Progreso members Jonathan Diaz, Cashmere Montalvo, Ed Guillem, Marlon Solidum, and Dr. Chris Sorongon.

Baribar, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Senior Citizens and Veteran Affairs, said they are planning to ladderize the centenarian cash incentives of P100,000.

In November 2019, he said, the SP already passed the ordinance to implement the program.

Leonardia has already agreed to allocate funds for it in 2022, he added.

“This is a milestone for us. The implementing rules and regulation have already been made,” Baribar said.

For your bonus, the mayor also gave a P1 million allocation for the federation, Baribar added.

Other FSCAB officials in attendance were Teresita Espuerta – vice president; Erunda Fabiona – secretary; Vilma Dela Vega – treasurer; Maximo Getonso- auditor; Genoveva Gomez – public relations officer; and Corazon Mori, Alfredo Telingban, and Romeo Ebon – trustees.*
