Small water impounding system turned over

CENRO-Cadiz City spearheaded by the OIC-CENR Officer Mamad Gandarosa Jr., chief of Regulation and Permitting Section Remia Buaron represented OIC PENR Officer Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya, Provincial NGP Coordinator Cecil Cañada, CENRO Cadiz NGP Coordinator for Alexander Entero, ENR Extension Officers Mary Grace Velando, Angie Pama, and Chelo Abelo attended the inauguration of the newly established small water impounding system with the help and efforts of P.O. chairman Francisco Villanueva and his members in the Brgy. Celestino Villacin Vegetable Farmers Association (BCVVFA) as the beneficiaries of the project.

The inauguration and turn-over ceremony was also attended by the assistant regional director for Special Concerns Ivene Reyes on behalf of Regional Executive Director Livino Duran, Region 6 ENR Extension Officer assigned in Negros Occidental Jessie Sanchez, LGU Cadiz City Agriculture office head Enrique Escares III, Community Development Assistant from City ENRO Cadiz John Mark Aparece and barangay officials of the community, and other stakeholders.

In his message, Reyes emphasized that people are the stewards of God’s creation and that our fundamental responsibility is to safeguard our environment and natural resources.

He also urged everyone to continue planting trees to combat climate change. He lauded the NGP personnel of CENRO-Cadiz for their efforts and close monitoring with the POs in the community in providing technical assistance in the implementation of eNGP, which resulted in 100 percent accomplishments in site preparation and plantation establishment CY 2022 target.

According to the press release, the project is one of the programs of the department that will be used primarily to supply water to the nearby communities and for the management, maintenance, and protection of the enhanced national greening program (eNGP) plantations and provide potable water supply.*
