Some areas in Murcia town, Negros Occidental, have been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine pending the release of the confirmatory results of test on suspected Covid-19 patients.

Mayor Gerry Rojas yesterday issued Executive Order No. 86 placing Purok Sambag, Barangay Blumentritt, and Farmville Subdivision, Barangay Salvacion under extreme ECQ.

Under the order, residents of these areas will not be allowed to leave their homes, and their basic necessities will be provided by the municipality, through the assistance of the barangays.

Rojas also ordered the barangay officials to strictly enforce the order, and stressed that violators will be subjected to criminal prosecution under pertinent laws.

He added that the order shall take effect immediately and will remain in full force and effect unless revoked or amended.

In an interview last night, Rojas said the new EO has also ordered the lockdown of a portion of Purok Mahogany in Barangay Lopez Jeana, that has two positive cases and has affected eight houses.

Rojas also said there are two positive cases in Farmville Subdivision and two other cases in Purok Sambag in Barangay Blumentritt that affected 24 houses.

He said that contact tracing is ongoing in Barangay Blumentritt and he will lift the lockdown once swab test results turn out negative.

“In Farmville Subdivision and Purok Mahogany of Barangay Lopez Jaena, we will wait for the swab results to lift the lockdown,” he added.

“Our lockdown is a preventive measure to contain the residents in their respective barangays so we can also properly monitor them,” he said.*
