“Tribute to Peque”, a short film by director Lore Reyes, will be shown on May 5 as part of the activities marking the first death anniversary of acclaimed Negrense filmmaker Peque Gallaga.
The activities are organized by artists and other friends of Gallaga to celebrate his death anniversary on May 7, with a remembrance of his works, a press release said.
A Bacolod-based organization, the Busalian Group, is launching several more media platforms in the countdown to the anniversary. It is now running the Facebook page “Peque Gallaga: Bugal sang Banwa”.
The platforms will be dedicated to the works of Gallaga and their relevance to nation building.
Reyes’ short film that focuses mainly on his landmark works will be shown in time for the launch of the Peque Gallaga You Tube channel noon on Wednesday.
Among the film excerpts included here are “Oro, Plata Mata” which was shot in full in several places in Negros, “Scorpio Nights”, “Virgin Forest”, “Isang araw Walang Diyos”, “Magic Temple”, “Magic Kingdom”, and the Manananggal episode of the first “Shake Rattle and Roll” series.
A Twitter and an Instagram account, both with user names @pqbusalian, have been activated.
The Busalian Group is composed of Reyes, Dr. Elsie Coscolluela, Rene Hinojales, Eli Tajanlangit, Tanya Lopez, Rudy Reveche, Jorezmecar Carreon, and Sherryn Erpelua. The group invited Gallaga’s son, Jubal, who now serves as its consultant.*
