BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reported on March 28 that 65 percent of the 80 percent of population being targeted for inoculation in Negros Occidental have already been vaccinated.

Of the 65 percent vaccinated individuals, Lacson said 60 percent, which is equivalent to two million, are fully vaccinated, while the five percent are awaiting their second dose.

“We’re close to 65 percent already of the 80 percent target,” the governor said.

But Lacson said he expects slower vaccination activities in some local government units, with the start of the campaign period for local candidates.

Lacson also said that Negros Occidental will remain under Alert Level 2 classification next month.

“It is good that we will be under Alert Level 2 because it allows us 70 percent occupancy,” Lacson pointed out.

Based on the report of the Department of Health Western Visayas, Negros Occidental remains under Alert Level 2 as of March 27.

Negros Occidental ranked last among six provinces and two highly urbanized cities, in terms of fully vaccinated persons in Western Visayas, at 60.8 percent. Bacolod City ranked first, registering a 129. 42 percent vaccination rate among its targeted population.*
