The Negros Occidental Provincial Development Council Executive Committee endorsed the $280 million Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) additional financing to the Regional Development Council.
During a meeting yesterday that was presided over by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, the ExeCom tackled the request of the Department of Agriculture for PDC Resolution of the PRDP second additional financing for endorsement to RDC.
The DA is pursuing additional funding for the PRDP from World Bank and its alignment with the food resiliency program as it is considered integral to the overall economic recovery plan of the government towards establishing the “new normal”.
Ma. Lina Sanogal, provincial planning and development coordinator, said PRDP is seen as a well-established platform that offers an efficient process and an effective system that provides flexibility and streamlining of activities during emergency and crisis situations that very well address the effect of Covid-19.
She said this is part of the agency’s Covid response to the fishery and agriculture sectors.
The PDC ExeCom resolution was also endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for information, she added.*
