A three-man art exhibition featuring surrealist and symbolic paintings of contemporary Negrense visual artists is currently ongoing at The Negros Museum, and will run until January 2024.
Titled “Pyesas”, the exhibit showcases the works of Giljohn Quiamco, Cresline Corsiga, and Francis Danielle Fajardo.
Pyesas is a Hiligaynon word that came from the Spanish word “piezas”, which means pieces in English. The concept of this art exhibit is that it is open to give the artist free will to do and express whatever message they want to convey from their imagination, and have them translate it into art pieces, a statement from the group said.
Corsiga took a course in B.S. Architecture and does conceptualized paintings on canvas using different mediums, including mixed media. He also does portraits, murals, conceptualized and functional art crafts, and hand painted fabrics. He makes terracotta sculptures depicting Filipino culture, as well as spiritual and biblical inspired concepts.

Meanwhile, Fajardo has also taken up Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting from 2007 to 2012 at La Consolacion College. He was a finalist in art competitions such as the GSIS Art Competition, and the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence in 2015.
Quiamco, a Bacolod-based artist from Bago City, founded the group “GONA” or the Group of Negrense Artists in 2021, to unite and motivate artists to grow by participating in art events. He loves to do symbolic and surreal artworks, and has joined national art competitions in 2019 like the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence, where he was selected as semi-finalist in watermedia category, and was shortlisted for the prestigious Philippine Art Awards in 2022.
Guests of honor at the opening were Art Association of Bacolod-Negros treasurer Patty Ong, and Kristine Alonso, both also visual artists.*
