The 303rd Infantry Brigade reported that 37 New People’s Army died after armed encounters with infantry units under its supervision in Negros Island, starting in 2023 until February 21 this year.
Brig. Gen. Orlando Edralin, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, also reported that 87 rebels also surrendered during the same period.
Edralin further said that they recovered 148 high powered firearms in 54 encounters.
The 303rd Infantry Brigade supervises the 79th, 62nd, and 94th Infantry Battalions, while the 11th, 15th, and 47th Infantry Battalions are supervised by the 302nd Infantry Brigade.
With the dismantling of five NPA guerilla fronts in Negros Island, the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division has recommended placing Negros Island in a state of Stable Internal Peace and Security.
However, the campaign against remnants of the NPA in Negros will continue, Army spokesman Lt. Col. J Jay Javines disclosed earlier.*
