Another employee of the Negros Occidental provincial government employee succumbed to COVID-19 on Sunday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz disclosed yesterday.

Diaz said the female employee, who is assigned as cashier at the Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital in Himamaylan City,  passed away at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where she was admitted.

The newly-promoted Capitol employee was in her late 40s and had health complications.

Renelo Lastierre, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Workers (PACE), said that the victim was the fourth employee to have died due to COVID-19 complications

Diaz, who extended sympathy of the provincial government to her family, said while the provincial government extended help to finance her dialysis, she did not make it, sad to say.

Lastierre said that PACE have facilitated to the provincial government that employees infected by COVID-19 be duly provided with medicines for their immediate recovery.

On the other hand, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang is now back to work, after recovering from COVID-19, Diaz said. However, he added, that there are still Capitol health workers, being placed at isolation, after being infected by the virus.*
