The Brazaville Beach Resort in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental held a beach volleyball tournament last March 16 and 17 in cooperation with the Municipality of Hinoba-an, a press release from the organizers said.
Dubbed “Brazaville Bikini Beach Volleyball Tournament”, the event was the first of its kind in promoting Hinoba-an tourism and sportsmanship among the participants.
The tournament was opened by the Negros Province Tourism head Cheryl Decena and Phoebe David, CEO and founder of Brazaville Beach Resort, and was concluded by Hinoba-an Vice-Mayor Jeffrey Encoy.
The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos was declared champion during the tournament which saw the participation of other schools/teams, namely Colegio de San Agustin, Kabankalan City Team, STI West Negros University, VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc., and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.
Marixi Maligmat of the UNOR-4 Aside team thanked the Brazaville beach resort and its staff for the successful beach volleyball tournament.
She said Brazaville Beach Resort is a great spot with awesome sand for beach volleyball and is one of the best sand courts that their team had ever played on.
Its smooth sand and the timeless beauty of the sunset while they were playing gave them the energy to continue despite the difficulties they had experienced like “exhaustion and sun heat”. They also thanked the fire team of the LGU of Hinoba-an for sprinkling water on the court, Maligmat said.
Overall, the two-day experience was fun and relaxing since the combination of the stunning views and playing beach volleyball made it a perfect weekend getaway, she added.*
