Galuh University in Indonesia entered into a collaborative agreement with STI West Negros University. As an offshoot of the Memorandum of Agreement signed by administrators of the two universities, an International Law Conference was held virtually on July 11.

The law conference entitled, “International Law in Sustainable Development Goals: Perspective and Challenges,” featured as resources speakers Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana, rector of Universitas Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Prof. Otto Hasibuan, chairman of the National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Advocates Association, and Atty. Caesar Distrito, professor and alumnus of the Public Administration Program of STIWNU.

The virtual conference was attended by law and public administration practitioners, administrators, faculty members and students.

After the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreement on July 10, Dr. Dadi, M. Si, University of Galuh president said, they agreed to enter into an agreement with STIWNU because both institutions agree to collaborate based on a foundation of trust for the mutual benefit and development of the universities and to work together for the promotion of international understanding and goodwill.

Mima Villanueva, Vice President for Academic Affairs of STIWNU, in her speech said, both universities will jointly develop activities based on academic and educational needs like developing a tailored online program on the English language, developing and organizing an international law conference and organizing joint research programs, among others.

“The international law conference was just one of the many relevant and meaningful activities that the Galuh University of Indonesia will be developing with the help of STIWNU as its partner, as we continue to promote professional development, global awareness and competence which are all essential in our pursuit for academic excellence,” said Villanueva.

The MOA was signed by Dr. H. Yat Rospia Brata, M. Si, Rector of Galuh University and Villanueva on behalf of Dr. Ryan Mark Molina, Executive Vice President of STIWNU.

“Our MOA with Galuh University is part of the University’s goal to be visible outside the country. We appreciate the collaborative projects we have with Galuh that’s why we continue this great partnership. STIWNU is also exploring opportunities with other universities in Asia which will surely be a gateway towards making STIers ready for the world,” said Molina.

Meanwhile, the university welcomed back officers of the Korean Institute for Culture and Arts (KICA) who arrived in Bacolod recently. KICA officers’ visit to the university aims to provide a better training on Korean culture and lifestyle for STIers and other students. Preparations are underway for the holding of a Filipino-Korean Cultural Show in the last quarter of the year.*
