MKNP 2022 Festival winners named

Diwata sang Bago Queenie Edessa Amarante and Suta sang Murcia Joshua Cabalhin were crowned Diwata kag Suta sang Kanlaon 2022, during the pageant held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City on August 10, the second day of the event.

This was part of the 4th edition of the three-day Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park Festival, dubbed “Halad kay Kang-Laon”, aimed at promoting ecotourism and the importance of conserving the MKNP, with the theme “Pagbangon sang Kumunidad Nasandig sa Pag-amlig sang Dunang Manggad”.

The 1st runners-up were Diwata sang La Castellana Ijie Feb Tenerife and Suta sang Bago Miguel Buenafe; while the 2nd runners-up were Diwata sang La Carlota City Janella Marie Avelino and Suta sang La Castellana Marlo Arconila.

Sheinedy Guzon of Canlaon City and Cabalhin bagged the Best in Production special award; Rampa Kalikasan Attire winners were Amarante and Buenafe, both of Bago; Rampa Kalikasan Design winners were Tenerife and Arconila, both of La Castellana;

Mr. and Ms. Photogenic were Cabalhin and Amarante, respectively, while the Media’s Choice Award were presented to Amarante and Arconila; Best in Environmental Advocacy – Arelino and Cabalhin; and Best in Diwata and Suta-Inspired Formal Attire winners were Amarante and Cabalhin.

Other candidates were Johanna Marie Santiago of Murcia, Louie Gee Jagorin of La Carlota, and Vhon Cedrick Alipar of Canlaon City.

The winners of various contests in line with the MKNP fest were also awarded during the culmination of the event, host Bago City announced recently.

In the body-painting contest, artist Joe Aron Espinosa with model Zaldy Flores of La Carlota emerged as the champion; first runner up was artist Jessa Marie Gustilo and model John Alfred Loquin of La Castellana; second runner-up, artist JB Maridable and model Ynna Ramirez, of Bago City; and third runner-up, artist Eleazar Bartulin with model Charhaey Apatan, of San Carlos City, the host city said.

La Castellana, meanwhile, was the champion in the super-sized canvas painting contest, with artist Reka Calumbera and assistant Raymark Delociento; first runner-up, Bago City, represented by artist Aaron Spencer Marin and assistant Noel Pahilanga; second runner-up, La Carlota City, with artist Reynan Genovis and assistant Leonel Palomata; and third runner-up was Murcia, with artist Reyno Maghinay and assistant Christian Natvel, the host city said.

The booth of Murcia was declared champion in the agri-booth contest, with La Castellana town as first runner-up; La Carlota City, second runner-up; and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental, third runner-up, the host city added.*
