A suspected member of the New People’s Army, with three pending arrest warrants, was apprehended on Wednesday by soldiers of the 94th Infantry Battalion Alpha Company in Sitio Agpapatao, Brgy. Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
Apprehended was Porferio Landesa, alias Peryong, who is a member of the NPA Leonardo Panaligan Command, as reported by the police, Lt. Col. Melvin Flores, 62nd Infantry Battalion commander said. Flores also supervises the operational control of the 94IB Alpha Company.
He said that the arrest of Landesa also yielded a .38 caliber revolver with 13 live ammunition, and two uniforms of the Bagong Hukbong Bayan- Leonardo Panaligan Command
Landesa, Flores said, has pending arrest warrants for murder, in connection with the killing of a certain CAFGU member Sorreno in Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan City, in 2018, violation of RA 10591 and RA 9516, issued by Guihulngan Regional Trial Court Judge Judge Mario Trinidad.
He lauded Binobohan barangay residents Guihulngan City for their timely information that led to the arrest of Landesa and for doing their part in ending local communist armed conflict in their area.*
