Teleperformance Bacolod is hosting a group art exhibition, in partnership with the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AABN), in celebration of National Women’s Month.
Titled “#inspireinclusion: Celebrating WOMEN and Their Allies,” the show opened on March 15 at the lobby of Teleperformance showcasing more than 40 artworks of about 34 AABN artists which highlight women, their daily life, and allies.
The opening was led by Teleperformance site director Nanette Chavez and AABN president Tey Sevilleno, Teleperformance director for operations Maria Jesusa Gemarino, and Patty Ong and Gigi Villamor, AABN treasurer and secretary, respectively.
In her message, Villamor said art has been a powerful medium of expression, reflecting the diverse stories and perspectives of humanity. Despite the historically male-dominated art scene, women, like Frida Kahlo, Mary Cassatt, Anita Magsaysay Ho, have played crucial roles in shaping artistic movements and challenging societal norms. Recognizing and celebrating the work of these women is essential in acknowledging the richness and diversity they bring to the artistic landscape.
“Art serves as a powerful tool for self-expression, and a means of empowerment. Through various mediums, we convey our thoughts, emotions, and society, reclaim narratives and challenging stereotypes. By celebrating our voices as women, we contribute to the ongoing evolution of the art world, fostering an environment where talent knows no gender,” she said.
Villamor said “the theme of art and women is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and empowerment. Our stories as women in art serve as an inspiration and a reminder that every voice, regardless of gender, deserves to be heard and celebrated in the colorful tapestry of human expression.”
Further, Sevilleno will also be conducting a one-day art workshop for Teleperformance employees today as part of the joint activity of AABN with one of the top BPO’s in the country.*
