The Philippine Councilor’s League – Negros Occidental chapter yesterday manifested its support to the tandem of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Ferrer as they both seek re-election next year.
Provincial Board Member Ryan Gamboa, who is the PCL-Negros Occidental president, disclosed this yesterday during the opening of the political party’s week-long celebration at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, where Lacson was also present.
Ten other mayors of Negros Occidental have already expressed their support to the Lacson-Ferrer tandem.
Liga ng Barangay Negros Occidental President Board Member Juvy Pepello, who is yesterday said that she will meet with the barangay captains in the province next week, to discuss their stand on supporting the Lacson-Ferrer tandem.
Former Bacolod Rep. John Orola, who is now a registered voter of Don Salvador Benedicto, is being pushed to challenge Lacson in the May next year elections.
Orola said he is yet to decide regarding the matter depending on the outcome of the supposed PDP-Laban convention in Bacolod City supposedly to be held today but was postponed indefinitely.
When asked for his comment earlier on the possibility that Orola may run against him, Lacson replied, “you can’t choose your opponent”.
Ferrer and Lacson thanked the Negros Occidental mayors for their support.*
