Now it is clear.

After weeks of negotiations, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson officially announced yesterday that La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio will be the official candidate of Love Negros and the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) coalition for the position as president of the Philippine Councilors League Negros Occidental chapter.

Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa is presently the PCL Negros Occidental chapter president. He represents the PCL provincial chapter in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, where he sits as ex officio member.

Lacson, who is affiliated with Love Negros, earlier said that he does not want any clashes during the PCL elections scheduled next month.

With Asistio named by the coalition, Gamboa can choose to run as his vice president or any position, the governor said.

Gamboa, a member of Love Negros, had said that he will wait for the decision of Lacson before he decides whether or not to seek a reelection.

Lacson said they will soon discuss who will be included in the official PCL line up.

Asistio, who is the son of Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer, is also affiliated with National Unity Party, where incumbent Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer is a member.

Love Negros and UNegA entered into a coalition prior to the 2019 election.

The coalition supported Lacson-Ferrer tandem during the 2019 and 2022 local elections.*
