Good news for Cauayan town taxpayers in Negros Occidental.

Mayor John Rey Tabujara gave his concurrence on a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Bayan of Cauayan, of allowing an extension of the deadline for securing business and other permits, without penalties, until February 28 this year.

This was in response to the request of Cauayan taxpayers for an extension of the deadline, as they cited financial constraints and lack of resources for renewal of permits within the January deadline.

Cauayan was among the areas in southern Negros devastated by typhoon Odette.

Mayor Richard Jaojoco also requested the Sangguniang Bayan of Toboso for a passage of a resolution, by extending the deadline for payment of business taxes, fees, or charges, without penalties from January 20 to July 20.

Jaojoco, in his letter to Vice Mayor Jesse Rex Bartolome, said that Toboso was not spared from the ill-effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and its business sector has been appealing for help or aid.

“This will extend the deadline for the filing of Mayors Permit for Business and License applications together with their payments,” he added.

This will also give ample time for business owners/ taxpayers to complete the requirements and their payments, at the same time, for the local government unit to increase its collection, he added.*
