A fugitive, who ranked top 7 in the wanted list of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, was shot and injured after he tried to escape from his abductors yesterday at Sitio Amian in Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified by the police as Jimmy Fermo, a 37-year-old laborer and resident of the place.

Initial police investigations show that Fermo was sleeping at the house of his friend, Florentino Pelacio, when four unidentified armed men barged into the house, handcuffed and blindfolded him, before beating him up.

Fermo was also shot several times while trying to escape, police investigations further showed.

The victim then dragged to waiting multi cab vehicle, and was later left behind at a diversion road in Brgy. Talubangi, Kabankalan City.

Fermo, who suffered from two gunshot wounds, is now being treated for injuries at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, where the police also served the arrest warrant for murder, issued against him by Judge Rodney Zamora Magbanua.

The victim was denied bail by Judge Magbanua.*
